Description
The Schwerer Panzerspähwagen als Selbstfahrlafette für 7.5 cm K.51 Sd.Kfz.233 (Eng. Heavy Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle as a Self-Propelled Gun Carriage for 75 mm Cannon 51, Sd.Kfz.233) was a heavy support armored car developed by Germany during the Second World War, when the German High Command understood that 20 mm automatic cannons were no longer enough for their reconnaissance vehicles. Entering production in July 1942, the vehicle was given some production priority, given its performance. While production of other heavy armored car models was gradually discontinued or decreased, the Sd.Kfz.233 remained in production until October 1943. After December 1943, the production lines of Sd.Kfz.233 were converted for the production of the more modern and better armored Sd.Kfz.234 heavy armored cars.
