Later, the treacherous Amazon Warrior Velasca challenges and kills Queen Melosa, proclaiming herself the new leader of the Amazons, Gabrielle, who is legally entitled to the position of monarch through her right of cast, arrives to the Amazon lands to wrest the throne from Velasca. After the defeat of Velasca, however, Gabrielle decides to transfer her title of Queen to Ephiny who continues to rule in her place so that she can continue to travel the world with Xena.
