Purchased on October 4, 1929, this WACO ASO was used in sales solicitation in the Southern & Northern territories from October 25, 1929 to November 25, 1932.
Captain Frank Hawks, while working for Texaco, conceived an idea to promote the public's interest in aviation and advertise Texaco's superior fuels and lubrications by towing Texaco's heavy duty special glider the "Eaglet" across America. Departing San Diego on March 31, 1930, the two pilots reached Van Cortlandt Park, New York City on April 6, 1930.
