Herman, the breadwinner, was seven feet tall and could have passed for the Frankenstein monster. His wife, Lily, resembled a lady vampire and their son Eddie was halfway between boy and wolf. Grandpa, who looked like an aging Count Dracula, was given to transforming himself into a bat when it suited him. Their beloved pet "Spot" was a fire-breathing dragon. Bats and cobwebs were everywhere. But, despite their scary appearances, they were remarkably congenial and harmless monsters who won their way into American hearts during their brief two-year reign on network TV.
