Both dolls and their accessories are original designs by Applause" and have never been produced before. They have many special and unique features; their hair is not yarn, but it is made of softly brushed material in an original looped circular design. They have bright pie-eyed hand-screened faces and beans in their feet and bottoms for extra "loppy" personality. Their soft cloth bodies are off white muslin, their black shoes are softly brushed and their clothes are custom designed and printed in a patriotic theme. As a special addition, each doll comes with a matching "Raggedy" pin to wear close to your heart forever.

Johnny B. Gruelle first created Raggedy Ann storybooks and dolls in 1918. Johnny's inspiration was driven by his daughter, Marcella, who took ill at a very young age. By her bedside, Johnny created many "Raggedy" stories and adventures about the loppy rag doll to entertain Marcella. Unfortunately. Marcella passed away at age 13. Knowing how much she enjoyed and loved the "Raggedy" adventures, Johnny wrote and published Raggedy Ann Stories along with a Raggedy Ann rag doll wanting to share this wonderful and rare gift with children everywhere. Johnny created Raggedy Ann's best friend, her brother Raggedy Andy, 2 years later in 1920, in the same fashion.
