The Tricorder is the most versatile piece of Federation equipment. Designed to be a portable sensing and computing work station with multiple uplinks to main Federation computer banks, the Tricorder can be adapted either internally or with add-ons to suit almost any need. Used extensively on Away Missions, the Tricorder provides lifeform, radiation, electromagnetic and ionic readings. The standard Tricorder has a storage capacity of 6.91 kiloquads, which can be increased with additional memory chips.
