Description

Q is from an extremely powerful race of aliens capable of almost any act. The Q can take any form, although when encountering humans they typically take human form. All members of their race refer to themselves as Q, with no individual name. The a continuum exists beyond normal space and time. The Q travel across the galaxy at will with - incredible speed, and can travel through time as easily as through space. They can give life or take it away, and can also alter the course of history.

This Q first tormented Captain Jean-Luc Picard® and his U.S.S. Enterprise™ NCC-1701-D crew on Stardate 41153.7, the starship's maiden voyage.

The alien entity blockaded the Enterprise-D enroute to Farpoint, a space station built by the mysterious Bandi. O whisked Picard and his senior officers away to a staged trial set in Farth's 21st Century post-atomic horror, holding

' Picard and his crew accountable for the past: crimes of humanity. Q appointed himself judge jury and executioner, but agreed to stay judgment if Picard would use the Farpoint mission as a test to prove that humanity had evolved from its savage origin. When Picard unraveled the Farpoint mystery by rescuing an alien energy creature held captive by the Bandi Q let the Enterprise go on its way but warned that he would return.

Over the years, Q appeared on the Enterprise-O many times, always with some sort of challenge for Picard. In their final encounter on Stardate 47988, Q brought Picard back to the 21st Century courtroom. & told the captain that the trial never ends, that humanity's greatest exploration will be charting the unknown possibilties of existence
