Description

Montgomery Scott began his Starfleet engineering career in 2243. He would eventually serve on eleven ships. His first assignment as a chief engineer was on the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 when it launched under the command of Captain James Kirk in 2264. During the ship's five-year mission, "Scotty" distinguished himself time and again with ingenious solutions to technical problems under extreme conditions, earning him a reputation as a miracle worker.

A deeply passionate man, Scott carried a running grudge against the Klingons. Probably the most exacerbating incident occurred in 2285 when Kirk, Scott and Chekov were forced to execute the ship's self-destruct sequence to keep Klingon Commander Kruge from capturing the Enterprise and the Project Genesis data stored in its memory banks.

After the Federation Council assigned Kirk a new Constitution Class Enterprise, NCC-1701-A, Scotty supervised its repair - although he was quite disgusted with its lack of readiness. Kirk and McCoy suspected Scotty was secretly happy to have so much to do.

Scott retired from service in 2294, after over 50 years as a Starfleet engineer. He was enroute to a retirement community at the Norpin Colony when the transport ship carrying him, the USS. Jenolen, disappeared. His fate remained unknown as history entered the 24th Century, but Scotty may have worked one last miracle to survive_
