This beautiful musical doll commemorates a part of history and the iconic song, Blue Danube Waltz. In 1866, the Austro-Hungarian Empire suffered a crushing defeat in the Seven Weeks' War against Prussia. The economy was in shambles and Viennese morale was at an all-time low. In response, the Vienna Men's Choral Association commissioned the 'Waltz King,' Johann Strauss II, to compose a lively and optimistic choral piece to bring joy back to the city during carnival season. Nicole has curled auburn hair adorned with a bow, green eyes, wears a rich jewel golden tone gown with an ivory lace shimmering overlay, a petticoat, shoes, and crochet socks. A beautiful addition to any doll or music box collection!
