Type 51 was the pinnacle of designer Ettore Bugatti's racing career. In 1931 the type won four premier races. Works drivers included Chiron and Varzi. 31 type 51's were built. Several works cars being sold later. Our subject went to A.H. Lindsay Eccles, then to Kenneth Bear. 2292cc 8-cylinder 170 bhp 135 mph.
