Description

Mack! Its name is legendary among truckers and no less so in the world of fire fighters. The slogan, "There's a Mack for every fire fighting need," was no mere advertising pitch, but a truism that departments around the world depended on. Mack was an early innovative force in the development of fire fighting equipment. It was the first manufacturer to develop engine-driven mechanical hoists for aerial ladders, the first to institute pressure-volume, series parallel centrifugal pumpers and the first to offer a completely enclosed sedan pumper (introduced in 1935).

Because heavy booster tanks were often needed to supply water to rural or newly developed areas, Mack was often the vehicle of choice because of its sturdy and substantial construction. Indeed, in 1935 Mack introduced a six-wheel chassis vehicle that had a 2,500 gallon water tank. The largest Mack fire engines were the types 19 and 90; how- ever, because fire departments' needs varied from town to town depending on the size of the district served, the smaller Mack AB models were quite popular as well. Your model is an exact replica of an original 1935 Mack AB Fire Engine.
