The Beautiful Barbies of the Great Eras Collection
In the 1990s Mattel had a great idea; this idea was to incorporate history into their new Barbie collection, and so The Beautiful Barbies of the Great Eras, also known among Barbie fans as ‘The Great Eras Collection’, was born.
The Barbies of the Great Eras is a collection of 10 different Barbie dolls. The idea of this collection was to represent different important Eras in History, to make us travel through time with Barbie in order to learn more about the beauty and fashion of each chosen Era.

The first Barbie from The Great Eras collection to appear was the Gibson Girl Barbie Doll, released in 1993. This Barbie is meant to represent the early 20th century. She wears a long blue skirt, a delicate white blouse with a blue cape on top, and a cream-colored hat with a purple ribbon. One of her best features are her chocolate-colored ringlets.
The 1920s Flapper Barbie Doll for Sale
The second Barbie of the Great Eras collection also appeared in 1993 and is known as the 1920’s Flapper Barbie Doll. The flapper Barbie wears a shiny golden floor-length coat trimmed in white faux fur, and an above-the-knee beaded dress. She is known for her short blonde hair styled with a golden headband, her faux pearls, and her stylish fan.
Egyptian Queen Barbie Doll
Our third Barbie from the collection is the Egyptian Queen Barbie Doll released in 1994. She is inspired by Egypt's Golden Age. She wears a turquoise cape and top. Like a true royal, the Egyptian Queen has lots of gold all over, whether it is on her skirt, her beautiful collar accessory, or her unique Egyptian headpiece.
Southern Belle Barbie Doll of the Great Eras
The Southern Belle is the 4th Barbie from the collection. The 1994 Barbie represents the 19th century. She wears a graceful hoop-skirted pink dress with blue accessories all over her dress. The Southern Belle Barbie is known for her romantic headpiece with pink and blue roses.
Elizabethan Queen Barbie Doll
Up next is the 1995 Elizabethan Queen Barbie doll. She is a gorgeous red-haired Barbie inspired by Queen Elizabeth I. The Elizabethan Barbie is known for her frizzy hairstyle, her Elizabethan collar, and of course, the crown that every queen needs.

The Grecian Goddess Barbie from 1996 takes us back in time to the Golden Age of Greek Mythology. Her appearance is based on the Greek Goddess Athena. She is known for her curly bangs and her purple Greek cape with tassels.

The last two beautiful Barbies of the Great Eras Collection are the Chinese Empress Barbie and the French Lady Barbie released in 1997.
According to Barbie, almost every aspect of The Chinese Empress Barbie has meaning and tradition within the hierarchy of Chinese social status. Her most breathtaking features are without a doubt her hat known as a Manchu cap, her satin coat with a four-toed dragon, and her faux Jade jewelry.
The French Lady is inspired by an aristocratic woman of the 18th-19th century. The French lady's elegant up-do is a perfect complement to her blue earrings and her blue pearly necklace. Her puffy French blue dress is meant to make you think she'll be attending Napoleon’s court.
