A look inside LEGO’s San Diego Comic-Con booth 2022
Were you not able to make it out to San Diego Comic-Con this year? We-R-Toys has all of the LEGO Group’s booth updates and 2022 Con exclusives straight from the show floor.
Although the LEGO Group has been reported to have abandoned their exclusive sets and minifigures for good, the sheer size and interactivity of their booth this year seemed to signify that they have no intentions of slowing down. In fact, there was a vast variety of SDCC LEGO exclusives and sets to shop. With the rising popularity of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series, the LEGO The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey 130 piece set is a must-have collector piece for any Tolkien fan. A quick glance at the booth’s Marvel product guide indicated that the Miles Morales LEGO figure was a popular item at this year’s Con. Another popular Marvel exclusive SDCC set was Marvel Super Heroes SDCC Exclusive Throne of Ultron 203 piece set. Although there are only 50-100 Action Comics #1 known to still exist, you can surely own 145 pieces of Superman history with DC Super Heroes SDCC Exclusive Action Comics #1 Superman LEGO set.
There were also a few photo opportunities at both corners of the booth, which included a life sized brick-built statue of Darth Vader from the LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation Disney+ special (and this year’s LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar). This summer themed Vader was styling a beach inspired tank top and swimming flippers, all while holding a tasty looking red popsicle. The We-R-Toys vacation planners suggest that “Beach Vader” visit the swampy bogs of this Dagobah Mini Build. A mini Dagobah is the perfect place for any Jedi or Sith to hone in on the tiniest portion of their force powers.
Ghosts & Robots & Spacemen, Oh My!
There was no shortage of rad 1980’s pop culture toys & collectibles at the 2022 Con. On the SDCC exhibition floor, NEFF’s booth had a small living room facade with a brown leather armchair in the middle of it. Colorful graphic prints hung on the walls, and there was a Darth Vader bust, a tape deck and obsolete gaming consoles strewn around the space. We had a few collectable recommendations that would really tie any 1980’s “room capsule” together. Let’s be real, any 1980s room totally needed The Real Ghostbusters 2019 Exclusive Spectral Action Figures. Because nothing “oozes” the eighties quite like the original Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Looking for a way to transform your nerd room with more 1980’s goodness? Might we suggest this Kre-O Transformers Cybertron Kreon Class of 84 Figure Set? Collect the whole set for ‘80s throwback building fun!
Maybe you have space to fill in your decked out 1980s capsule room? You don’t have to look far far away with this Gentle Giant Studios SDCC 2011 Comic Con Exclusive STAR WARS Jawa 7" Inch Jumbo Kenner Action Figure. True to the original, this oversized reproduction comes with a laser gun and removable vinyl cape!
Exclusive Dolls & Figures of SDCC
It was great to see Mattel back at SDCC this year! The company marked its first in-person appearance since 2019 with an agenda that featured an array of big-name panels, signings, and giveaways. There were also some San Diego Comic-Con 2022 exclusive collectibles, including the 2022 Comic Con Exclusive Frankie Stein Voltageous black and white doll. Other Mattel exclusives included the Monster High Power Ghouls Wydowna Spider as Webarella Doll and Monster High SDCC 2016 Exclusive Robecca Steam & Hexiciah Steam 2 Pack Doll Set.
