Buy Marvel Action Figures to Celebrate 60 Years of The Avengers
Many people know The Avengers after the successful 2012 Marvel self-titled movie, but the Avengers are not from this millennium; the team of superheroes came together in 1963, and here they are today, 60 years later, more relevant than ever. But in honor of the Avenger’s 60th anniversary, we’ll reminisce about their story and tell you where and how to look for the best Avengers toys to buy.
In September 1963 Marvel Comics released The Avengers #1. The story was created by the beloved Stan-Lee, credited as a writer and editor and Jack Kirby as co-plotter and artist. The idea of the Avengers was selecting some superheroes from Marvel who work independently and have their own storylines to come together to fight some of Marvel’s toughest villains such as Thanos, Loki, Ultron, Kang the Conqueror, Doctor Doom, and The Celestials to name a few.
Avengers Celebrate Their 60th Anniversary
Contrary to what some might think, the original Avengers consisted of Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Ant-Man, and the Wasp.
One of the main goals of the first editions of The Avengers comics was to cross-promote Marvel Comics characters. This is because The Avengers often features other characters who have their own solo books or appear in different comics. These features included very popular characters as well as underrated ones.
The story of The Avengers comics started with Loki seeking revenge against Thor. Iron Man, Ant-Man, the Wasp, and Hulk who have been brought together by sidekick Rick Jones decide to help Thor. After the superheroes defeated Loki, by suggestion of Ant-Man a team was formed, and thanks to the Wasp the name The Avengers came to be.
In the second issue in November 1963. The Hulk left the group after he realized how the other Avengers felt about his unstable personality. In the fourth issue (March 1964), Captain America joined The Avengers after he was found and revived by them; he was also given founding member status, replacing The Hulk. The Avengers comics aren’t strange to switching up their lineup; other members of The Avengers added later on include Black Widow, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Vision. There are many others who have joined or made appearances in the Avengers comics, such as Captain Marvel, Mantis, Beast, Thing, Doctor Strange, and Wolverine, to name a few.
Avengers Assemble
In 2010, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroesseries was released and ran for a couple of seasons before being replaced by Avengers Assemble, which ran for five seasons. Later, in 2012, the first Avengers movie came out, and needless to say, it was such a success that we have now seen three other Avengers movies. Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: End Game, it is fair to say that The Avengers movies have become the most popular movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Proof of that is that four out of Marvel’s five highest-grossing movies are Avengers movies.
When it comes to Avengers toys considering that The Avengers characters are independent characters and not limited to the Avengers storyline, it is possible to buy toys of the Earth’s mightiest heroes without having to wait for any releases around the time of a new movie. Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, and Spider-Man are of course some of the most popular Avengers toys.
The Avengers members have tons of action figures. Marvel toys used to be produced by Toy Biz in the past but in recent history, they’re produced by Hasbro. There is a line of Marvel toys called Marvel Legends which is worth checking as they have produced plenty of Marvel Universe characters and is the biggest Marvel Universe line out there. Many collectors seeking to buy detailed and unique figures would often look for the Marvel Legends line.
Aside from action figures, there is plenty of Avengers merchandise you can buy including Funkos, home accessories, art kits, clothes, and even electronic appliances. If you are looking to grow your Marvel toy selection or specifically your Avengers collection we recommend you not to limit yourself by only looking for Avengers sets but to also look up different Avengers members' names individually to grow your collection. Also, don’t forget to browse the Marvel selection for more options when buying your toys.
