Junkers Ju 87 Stuka German Dive Bomber & Messerschmitt ME 262 Model Kit 00760

The Junkers Ju 87 "Stuka" was first used in the 1930's Spanish Civil War. During the "Blitzkrieg" of WW II it was used in close ground support against Poland and France. The "Stuka" will always be remembered for its frightening siren scream as it dove towards earth. However, the "Stuka's" lack of speed and maneuverability proved no match for later British aircraft.

The Messerschmitt Me 262 is regarded as the world's first working jet fighter as it entered service in June 1944. The Me 262 was an advanced design with swept wings and pressurized cockpit. It was armed with four 30 mm cannons. Powerplants were two Junkers Jumo 004B turbo jets enabling the Me 262 to reach speeds in excess of 540 mph. Ironically, the Me 262 was introduced into service too late in the war and was never able to regain air superiority for the Luftwaffe.
