Those who really know trucks recognize at once the outstanding performance, utility, economy, and heavy-duty construction of the 1941-1949 K-5 and KB-5 Series from International. These sturdy trucks featured reinforced frames, powerful Green Diamond engines, attractive and innovative styling, and adaptability to a wide range of hauling jobs. First built in December of 1940, these versatile trucks went to war, put American goods back on peacetime roads and in the process spanned an entire decade. In 1950, the last KB-5s were replaced by the L Series, after production of over 198,000 units of International's very popular medium duty truck.

The Green Diamond engine was designed and precision-built by International Harvester exclusively as a truck powerplant. Displacing 233 cubic inches, this straight 6-cylinder engine developed 93 horsepower at 3,400 rpm, with 181 ft.-lbs. of torque at 1,000 rpm. The design provided the K-5 and KB-5 trucks with smooth and quiet operation, effective performance, outstanding operating economy and long life.

The model is a replica of the actual restored 1947 KB-5 Firetruck owned and maintained by the Coburg Fire District in western Oregon.
