As he runs into pirates along the way, Captain Gutt attempted to enlist castaway animals, among them Manny, to join his crew. They refused, in time, Gutt's attempts at revenge against Manny caused his downfall as the ape lost his ship, his crew and all his bounty and was caught by vicious sirens.
