Description
Grace Coolidge, was thrust into the role of First Lady, when her husband Calvin, suddenly became President upon the death of Warren Harding. She quickly adapted and efficiently assumed her new responsibilities. Her gay, charming and dignified presence contributed to a de-lightful social scene at the White House. When the Coolidges left the White House in 1929 Washington society declared that Grace was one of the most popular First Ladies in our country's history.
