Description
The United States Marine Corps lives by the core values of honor, courage and commitment. These values are the foundation upon which Marines act every day, in times of battle and times of peace. The Marine Corps marks its beginning with a resolution passed by the Continental Congress in the eighteenth century, which authorized a landing force called the Continental Marines. Throughout their long history, the Marines have participated in many wars and conflicts, including both World Wars, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War and in Afghanistan. Today they continue to fight for America's freedom with integrity, strength and unrelenting determination.
Weapons instructors familiarize Marine recruits with the weapons that will be used on missions. They teach recruits the skills needed to maintain and accurately fire their weapons, including the fundamentals of marksmanship, the four shooting positions, how to fire, how to adjust their sights, how to take the weather into account, and much more critical information and techniques. Instructors take raw recruits and, through shared hardship and tough training, change them into Marines.
