Description
As the clash between U.S. forces and the Japanese raged on, U.S. artillery had been blasting the Japanese into a frantic retreat. Through the victory at Leyte, the U.S. Sixth Army was able to gain a strategic foothold which gave the Allies the upper hand in the war in the Pacific. The success of U.S. soldiers of the Sixth Army ultimately paved the way for the Japanese surrender on August 14, 1945
