It is used as an anti-personnel and anti-aircraft weapon, with a maximum range of about 4 miles and a cyclic rate of fire of 450-550 rounds per minute. Dating from the World War II period, it continues to be used by the military to this day as an effective weapon for offensive and defensive purposes.
