Before teaching defense against evil forces, Professor Quirrell went in search of Voldemort, believing that he could get recognition for finding him and could learn things that would ensure no one would laugh at him again. However, Voldemort, after discovering that he was teaching at Hogwarts, took control of his body, although Quirrell opposed weak resistance. He died trying in vain to murder Harry Potter.
