Department 56 New England Village Series Benjamin Bowman Violin Maker

The New England Village Series was created in 1986 to capture the spirit of historic small town America in the 1800s. Imagine crashing waves against a rocky shoreline as a backdrop to picturesque lighthouses, nautical cottages, smoking chimneys, one-room schoolhouses, and seaside businesses. Horse-drawn wagons pull wares for the Village through the snow-dusted streets while Villagers keep busy with their trade. Though life is simple here, folks have plenty to do, from selling homemade quilts to sleigh riding through a rolling countryside filled with authentic rural barns, farmhouses, and churches. Surrounded by the crisp winter air the Village and its residents capture the essence of the spirit of New England.

Characterized by the matte finish, extensive research contributes to the charm and detail of each individually hand painted, porcelain piece. Cast into the mold is the Department 56 logo-a guarantee of authenticity. Every year pieces are retired from production and the molds broken. This limits the number of pieces and allows for new additions.

Back side of roof and side railing reglued. Back side of roof has chipping. Tested and working.. Accessory signs have been broken off. Violin accessory has some warping and does not fit in easily.
