Spike is a space cowboy who makes his living as a bounty hunter along with his partner, Jet Black and the drifter and former card sharp Faye Valentine, who joined the crew uninvited. Their headquarters is the spaceship Bebop on which the crew members also live. Not only is he a master of Jeet Kune Do, but he is adept in wielding firearms and is also a skilled pilot. His weapon of choice is the Jericho 941 gun and he flies the high-speed fighter spacecraft called Swordfish II. Spike is capable of taking on and defeating three Martian fighter ships at a single time. A former member of the Red Dragon crime syndicate, Spike climbed the ranks within the organization with his former partner Vicious, but separated after a life-changing incident. After parting ways, they have since become arch enemies with a score to settle.
