First formed in 1885, the Orlando Fire Department provides a wide range of public safety services to Orlando's citizens and visitors. OFD is also responsible for disaster response, hazardous materials response, dive rescue, high angle and below grade rescue, explosive ordinance disposal, and fire safety inspections. Additionally the department is responsible for aircraft rescue and fire fighting at Orlando's Executive Airport.
The department staffs 14 Fire Stations, 15 Engines, 4 Towers and 8 Rescues plus Command staff and special units.
In addition to it's traditionally fire protection role, OFD offers advanced life support (ALS) emergency medical service from every engine, tower, and rescue in the City.
The Orlando Fire Department offers a wide range of services and programs to our local communities including a nationally recognized Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program and a Citizen's Fire Academy (CFA).
The Orlando Fire Department is also responsible for coordinating the City's Emergency Management programs.
