Code 3 FDNY Seagrave Pumper E-46 Vehicle 2003 Limited Edition #12833

Engine 46 was originally organized as a "combination engine company", consisting of a steamer, hose wagon and ladder truck. On July 11, 1881, Engine 46 replaced Chemical 4, which was disbanded on that date. Engine 46 is located at 753 East Tremont Avenue, Bronx, NY. It was later moved to 451-453 East 176th Street, a few blocks away. They became a regular engine company on June 1, 1904, with their ladder truck becoming a separate company. It was made a double engine company on August 10, 1968, and remained as such, with two pumpers and separate officers and fire fighters for each until October 15, 1969. They have been in their present fire station, which they share with Ladder 27 at 460 Cross Bronx Expressway, since 1972. Their first alarm area consists of many old tenements, several high-rise projects and numerous retail stores. Since being organized, they have had three individual medal winners and 16 unit citations. In 2002, they responded to 3466 alarms, of which 1884 were workers. Their new apparatus is a 2003 Seagrave 1000 gpm pumper, carrying FDNY registration number SP03012.
