Her name was actually Katie Marshall. It was only after she was discovered by a famous Hollywood producer that she adopted her beloved grand- father's name, Gene because he had always urged her to follow her dream to Hollywood stardom.

The movies were Gene's passion, even as a young girl. Inspired by the world's great movie actresses, she developed her acting skills by winning the leads in every school play. She quickly won the hearts and admiration of everyone who saw these early performances...for even then, Gene was surely touched with stardom.

Gene was a typical, gawky young woman...but the movies taught her grace and passion, and made her heart sing with their glamour and drama!

Because Gene was single-minded about pursuing her dream, she managed to find her way to New York City. She became an usherette at a fashion- able movie theatre frequented by celebrities. On a night that changed her life forever, Gene led a tall, distinguished man to his seat in the darkened theatre. Her flashlight fleetingly revealed her lovely face to him. Astonished at her beauty and poise, this noted producer declared her his latest discovery, took her to Hollywood, and helped make Gene the star she always deserved to be.

When the magic of Hollywood is touched by the magic of Christmas, Tinseltown takes on a whole new meaning as people decorate palm trees with glittering lights and bright ornaments, and hang frosted wreaths of pine on the doors of their Beverly Hills mansions.

Gene is feeling a little homesick for an old-fashioned, New England holiday with her beloved family. A California Christmas just isn't the same. Gene misses her family dreadfully, but she's keeping the holiday blues away by appearing in the 'Holiday Magic' TV special-one of the first shows telecast in living color. The warm camaraderie and good cheer of the cast and crew has eased her homesick- ness considerably.

At the end of the show Gene is delighted when the producer presents her with the ultra-fashionable, white-flocked Christmas tree that Gene decorated in the show while singing a popular holiday carol. The crew applauds as he includes the iridescent star tree top- per, the stand painted with Gene's name, and four dozen exquisite, hand-blown glass ornaments; in silvery-blue and poinsettia-blossom pink. 'Hope this'll entice you to do my 'Holiday Magic' special again next year,' the producer says with a wink. 'A silver screen star like you brings gold to my TV sponsors.'

Gene laughs and replies, 'I'd love to work with these people again. They've made me feel like part of their family-and that's what Christmas is all about, Happy holidays to all!'
