Mercury is hardly a marquee quickly associated with muscle car" but this 1971 Comet Pro Street was capable of striking fear in the hearts of all stoplight drag racers. Originally conceived to be part of the ill dated Edsel line, the Comet existed in Mercury trim from 1960 until the mid-70s. Our 1971 Pro Street retains the Comet's basic shape but most similarities to factory showroom goods end there. It was street legal, but raise the hood and its true purpose was revealed. Powered by a massive Ford Boss 429 c.i.dV-8, this machine is capable of delivering enough torque to straighten the curliest head of hair. The Testor Comet Pro Street features a realistic V-8 with hi-rise, dual quad manifold and four-tube headers. detailed chassis, complete interior trim with roll bar and optional chrome tach and gauges, and colorful decals.
