German four-wheel-drive medium off-road vehicle used primarily as a transport and staff car for officers, it featured an 8-cylinder engine and independent 4-wheel suspension for good mobility, serving on various fronts including North Africa and the Eastern Front. The 10.5 cm FH18M was decided to be the best weapon for future warfare. The high trajectory and heavier payload delivered by the 10.5 cm howitzer far out weighed the range advantages of the 7.5 cm field gun, which fired a lighter projectile from roughly the same weight weapon.
