Nicknamed "The Barn" for largely physical reasons, Rob Roskopp rolled out of Ohio in the early '80s to stake his claim in the west where he turned professional for Santa Cruz Skateboards. Roskopp's first pro model graphic in 1984 marked the beginning of a new art direction for the company, when Jim Phillips flexed his illustrative muscle on Rob's idea of an arm breaking out of a bull's eye target. By 1989, the target was all but obliterated throughout the course of a phenomenally successful series, yet Phillips still managed to expand upon the creature's twisted visage one last time.
