Like all Danube-class Runabouts, the Orinoco shuttle's namesake is a great river. It is one of three Runabout shuttles on assignment to Space Station Deep Space Nine. Registered NCC-72905, the Orinoco was assigned to the station following the destruction of the Yangtzee Klang. Like most Runabouts, the Orinoco serves the space station as both a passenger shuttle and a short-range cargo ship frequently running supplies to and from the planet Bajor. The cockpit is home to a two-person flight crew and up to two additional passengers. A special feature on the Runabout Danube-class shuttles is the ability to use the limited range two-person transporter automatically, without anyone on board. The aft contains living quarters. complete with sleeping bunks and a food replicator. The exterior of this self-contained craft is composed of various alloys, including duranium. With its sleek. functional design, the Orinoco serves the station well.
