Noted designer Oscar de la Renta has created a masterpiece in lace and brocade for Barbie doll. A bustier of luxurious golden brocade is overlaid with chocolate colored lace and dazzled with sequins and beads. Her arms are covered by elegant long lace sleeves ending in cuffs of faux fur. This romantic gown features an opulent full skirt of golden brocade revealing an underskirt of tulle with golden edging. A brown ribbon paired with a luxe golden and faux topaz "brooch" accents the waist. Heightening the romance is a chocolate brown lace shawl, artfully draped across her shoulders.

Oscar de la Renta left his native Dominican Republic at 18 years of age to study painting at the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid. While living in Spain, he discovered his talents for fashion and began sketching for leading Spanish fashion houses which led to an apprenticeship with Spain's most renown couturier. From Paris to New York he contributed to the world's most acclaimed design houses. It was inevitable that the gifted Oscar de la Renta would begin his own label. In 1965 he did just that. Today this label has grown to include products based on his signature style from cosmetics and fragrances to clothing for women as well as men. He continues to receive international acclaim and recognition, not only for his extraordinary work in fashion but as a humanitarian and patron of the arts.
