Football player Phil Grayfield, whose career was cut short after saving the life of a falling child and suffering a severe knee injury, encounters an eccentric scientist superfan who creates an almost indestructible football uniform for Phil. But their plan is interrupted by a sudden attack - a band of thieves break into the superfan's house, steal a vanload of the very valuable NFL merchandise he had collected, and set fire to the building.
