One of the greatest wide receivers in the history of the NFL, Jerry Rice was a 49ers number-one draft choice in 1985 after setting 18 NCAA Division II records at Mississippi Valley State. Each of Rice's NFL years has been a record setting event that brought another milestone to his career achievements. He set a rookie record for yardage in 1985, then came back the next season to lead the NFL in catches and receiving yards. In 1988, he set a single-season record for the league, he was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Team of the Decade. He became the all-time touchdown reception leader with his 101st scoring catch in 1992. After another NFL-leading season in 1993, he broke the post-season receiving yardage mark in the playoffs. 1994 was his ninth consecutive season of NFL-record 1,000 yard receiving, while his 112 receptions were the second most in NFL history at the time. Along the way, Rice has been named to nine Pro Bowls. In the 1995 season, he set the NFL's single-season record with 1,848 yards; his 122 catches were the second highest total in league history.
