Description
Episode 38 - The Operetta - deputed on CBS on October 13, 1952. Once again, wacky Lucy Ricardo has gotten herself into big trouble. She's borrowed money from her woman's club treasury and now they need the money to stage an operetta! To save the $100 royalty fee, Lucy writes her own show - The Pleasant Peasant - a musical love story about Lily of the Valley (Ethel) and Prince Lancelot (Ricky) whose love is thwarted by the gypsy queen, Camille (Lucy). Lucy rents costumes and scenery using a postdated check, assuming the money to cover the expenses will be available in the club account the day after the show! In typical Lucy fashion, the production is interrupted by moving men repossessing the scenery and costumes, and Lucy is carried off the stage, singing and slapping her tambourine.
