Description

Emergencies know no boundaries. Civil, military, governmental- indeed, every aspect of society must be prepared for the time when quick thinking and decisive action are required, and each must be ready to adapt to the particular nature of a situation. The Land Rover has been adapted for every part of society. Sold in almost every country in the world, the Land Rover has been used as a military vehicle, a police vehicle, a fire tender and in a variety of other roles when the need is to respond to a crisis quickly and effectively Before World War II, Rover had been successfully producing vehicles for professional classes in Britain. However, when the war ended, the British urged producers to build for the export market to bring revenue into the war-shattered country.

At the time, Rover found its pre-war models rather stodgy and conservative, so the company felt the need for a new design. Observing the popularity of wartime US. Jeeps in civilian markets for farming and light industry Rover decided to build a similar vehicle using pre-existing parts and easily made new components. The result was the Land Rover which appeared in 1947, and was an immediate export success. Within two years, the Land Rovers were outselling other Rover automobiles three to one. The Series 1 Land Rover was produced between 1948 and 1958.

In that decade, over 218,000 were produced and they were offered with the choice of two gasoline engines and one diesel engine. The four-cylinder engines provided between 50 and 52 horsepower, and were coupled with a selectable four-wheel or two-wheel drive. The higher range Land Rovers (after 1951) came with permanent four-wheel drive. Now, a 1952 Land Rover outfitted by the Royal Navy to answer any emergency is recreated in a highly detailed die-cast replica officially authorized by the Fire Brigade Society. Precision-engineered and marked with authentic Royal Navy logos and graphics, your 1952 Land Rover Royal Navy Rescue Truck is produced by and available only from Matchbox Collectibles.
