Description
The Me262A-1a/U-4 fighter aircraft, equipped with a long-range 50 mm cannon at the front, was designed as an interceptor aircraft for attacking heavy bombers in the Foross Alleys and two prototypes of the aircraft were built. The Mauser MC2144 was selected because of its long-range cannon at the front, compared to the Rheinmetall Borsig BKS, the MK214A with a muzzle velocity of 14 mm, which was significantly lower in terms of muzzle velocity but well within the target. In February 1945, it successfully passed ground firing tests. On April 5, 1945, the Major Herget prototype carried out two actual combat tests on the Vedderu MIC214 V3 and was then mounted on the second prototype of the V083, but there is no document proving that a test flight was ever performed.
