G.I. Joe U.S. Vietnam Marine 12" Action Figure 1998 Hasbro 81488
Description
Marines first went to Vietnam in 1962 when Medium Helicopter Squadron 362 set up position in the Mekong Delta. By 1965, a brigade of American marines landed at Danang, in South Vietnam. These brave soldiers represented the first U.S. combat ground-force units to serve in the Vietnam War, a conflict that severely tested the resolve and ability of U.S. soldiers to an incredible degree. Despite powerful U.S. air support and other modern mechanized backup, the conditions demanded intensive ground force involvement. The enemy was usually well concealed in dense jungles, rice paddies and villages; the constant threat of traps and surprise ambushes kept the soldiers in a perpetual state of alert. Extremely harsh conditions-mosquitoes, parasites, jungle rot and excessive heat-tested the Marines to the bitter end. But Marines are tough, well-trained and disciplined. Despite the arduous circumstances, they served with honor and distinction, remaining Semper Fidelis, Always Faithful to God, Country, and the Corps.
