Description
Initially designated "Aufklarungastab Rommel" when Rommel was informed of his new position in February of 1941, the German army in North Africa was renamed "Deutsches Afrikakorps" (DAK) when Hitler announced its official formation.
Rommel's forces consisted of numerous elements and a high number of these were fully motorised. Among these were two man crews on motorcycles which were used extensively for reconnaissance.
