Dragon Armor Sd.Kfz.231 Eastern Front 1941 Vehicle Dragon 60599

Germany created a number of successful schwerer Panzerspähwagen ("heavy armored reconnaissance vehicles") to support its forces. Among them was the Sd.Kfz.231 8-Rad ("eight-wheel") type. This vehicle could drive rapidly (its maximum road speed was 85km/h) in either direction if it came under attack. It had a rear-mounted V8 engine and required a crew of four men (commander, gunner, two drivers) to operate. The Sd.Kfz.231 featured a hexagonal-shaped turret mounting a 2cm KwK 30 (or KwK 38) cannon plus one MG34 machine gun. The closely related Sd.Kfz.232 with extra radio equipment was also manufactured, although production ceased in May 1942. These vehicles making up heavy platoons were typically parceled out to support smaller 4x4 armored cars. The Sd.Kfz.231 saw service throughout the entire period of WWII.
