In the fabled city of Agrabah, a poor young man named Aladdin and his pet monkey, Abu, dream of a better life.

Meanwhile, Jasmine, the Sultan's beautiful daughter, is being forced to choose a husband. Running away from the palace, she runs into trouble in the marketplace and is rescued by Aladdin, who falls in love with her at once. But how can a pauper marry a princess!

Then Jafar, the Sultan's evil advisor, persuades Aladdin to enter the mysterious Cave of Wonders to retrieve a powerful magic lamp. Guided by a friendly Magic Carpet, Aladdin finds the lamp. But the cave collapses, trapping him inside! Rubbing the lamp for light, Aladdin releases a flamboyant Genie who promises him three wishes.

Vowing to use his third wish to free the Genie, Aladdin wishes first to become a prince worthy of Jasmine. Disguised as "Prince Ali Ababwa," he takes Jasmine on a romantic carpet ride and wins her heart.

Then Aladdin must use his second wish to survive Jafar's attempt on his life. With only the third wish left, Aladdin loses his nerve and breaks his promise to the Genie.

It's a bad mistake, as Aladdin discovers when Jafar gets the lamp and its powers. Banishing Aladdin, Jafar makes Jasmine his slave and takes over the kingdom.

In a terrifying battle, Aladdin outwits the evil sorcerer and at last wins Jasmine's hand. And the Geniel Well, he was last seen traveling south!
