In a little village in France, Belle lives with her inventor father, Maurice. The beautiful girl dreams of love and romance in some far off place. But Gaston, the town bully, is plotting to marry her against her will. One day Maurice leaves the village to take his invention to the Inventors' Fair. He is traveling through a dark wood when suddenly wolves attack! Maurice's frightened horse runs off, and the old man is left to wander in the foggy wood. He stumbles upon a mysterious castle where lo and behold-he's entertained by Enchanted Objects.

But the castle holds a deep, dark secret. A Beast rules this domain! A Beast who has an evil curse upon him. Only if he learns to love and is loved in return can he become human again. And he must do this before the last petal of an enchanted rose falls. When Maurice's horse returns home riderless, Belle goes looking for her father. But alas! He has been taken captive by the Beast. When she finally wanders into the Beast's castle, Belle bargains to take her father's place as a captive. Forever!
