Description
Graceland began as a 500-acre Memphis farm owned by the S.C. Toof family. In 1939, a Southern colonial mansion was commissioned by Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Moore to be built on the 13.8 acres of land and was named "Graceland" after Mrs. Moore's great-aunt Grace.
In 1957, at the age of 22, Elvis purchased Graceland and made it his family home for 20 years. During that time many changes and additions were made to the mansion, including the famous wrought iron gates that have greeted decades of Elvis fans.
Christmas at Graceland was always something special. During his first years at Graceland, Elvis decorated the front lawn with a large Santa, sleigh and reindeer. He later added lighted aluminum Christmas trees, a life-size Nativity scene and hundreds of blue lights outlining the winding driveway.
Today, these same special decorations are shown each year and now you can share these special traditions with Elvis Presley's Graceland by Department 56.
