In actuality, this name comes from their minds' ability to access a transcendental state referred to as "The Midway" or "The Gray." These abilities have granted the Grayborn roles in the higher echelons of Cosmerrium's intellectual circles, as well as the chance to create an information network spanning the Rings that is known as The Μ.Α.Ζ.Ε. (The Meshed Assemblage of Zonal Enlightenment)
While many Grayborn are thought to be purely analytical and devoid of emotion, there are notable exceptions, including Aius Cyppiteon. Using the M.A.Ζ.Ε. to discover pervasive injustices within the Rings of Cosmerrium, Aius planned to weaponize this information. These actions are exactly what landed him in Hvalkatar. Aius' analytical prowess has proven to be a valuable tool in the prison fighting pit known as The Grave, allowing him to best opponents possessing twice his size and strength. The Grayborn's wisdom has also been a key element to his mentorship of newer combatants, including Olek Thygar.
