Description

Hello! and Bonjour! from Canada, your neighbor to the north! Canada was first inhabited by Native American Indians. The word Canada comes from the old Indian name "Kannata," which means "a collection of huts!"

The symbol of Canada is the red maple leaf. We are the second largest country in the whole world! Canada is so big, we're divided into ten provinces and two territories that stretch from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, to the Arctic Ocean! Our eastern provinces are Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Quebec. This area is famous for its fabulous fishing and green forests.

Our eastern provinces are Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. The farm land is plentiful, so this is where most Canadians live. There are lots of Do wild animals like the moose. wild geese and bears!

The west coast province is British Columbia where the salmon swim upstream every year. The native Indians here make totem poles which tell the stories and history of their families. To the north are the Yukon and Northwest Territories. The Eskimos live in the north in cold. icy igloos.

Here in Canada, we speak either French or English, and some of us speak both! Here are some Canadian French words to practice for fun:

Snow - Neige
Girl - Fille
Horse - Cheval
Boy - Garçon
House - Maison
Mother - Mere

There's so much more I'd like tell you about Canada! it gets cold and icy here, but you'll find that Canadians are warm and friendly people. I hope you will come to visit Canada one day soon!
