Description
The Front Window book is an exciting story of courage and strength in the Old West, where battles are fought not with bullets, but with newsprint and spirit! This breathtaking adventure takes readers back in time before women were given the right to vote.
When Barbie® displays a sign in the front window of her dress shop announcing an upcoming speech by Susan B. Anthony, a suffragette who is fighting for the rights of women, she doesn't realize that her life about to change.
The local newspaper refuses to print the news about Miss Anthony's speech. Barbie takes matters into her own hands and writes a story. With help from artist Skipper®, who illustrates the story, and Ken, who prints it, she places the story in the front window of her dress shop. Barbie agrees with Miss Anthony that women should have a say in what happens in their town and in their country. That's why they need the right to vote. After all, it is 1871!
The men of the town are furious! Especially the publisher of the newspaper who angrily tells Barbie to "Get back to fashion, where you belong!" He even urges the ladies of the town to sew their own frocks and not buy from Barbie!
Against all odds, Barbie courageously begins publishing her newspaper, The Front Window, believing that even though people may not agree with an idea, they have a right to know about it.
