Way back in 1921 when Mary See began selling her wonderful confections in Los Angeles, the motto of See's Candies was (and still is today), "Quality Without Compromise. Her marvelous recipes turned out batches of the most taste-tempting treats, all made lovingly by hand with the finest ingredients: fresh dairy butter and cream, premium quality pure Hawaiian cane sugar, and the finest chocolate, and were sent freshly made to the soon-to-be familiar cottage-like shops. But, who would help the customers with their selections?

Mary See knew the customer must be greeted with a smile, a friendly word or two, and then, a sample of her fresh-from-the-kettle product. From the beginning. See's Candies shops were staffed with people who made the customers want to come back again and again for more of Mary See's delicious candies.

"Quality Without Compromise" has always been true for the people behind See's candy counters, so when Barbie doll went to apply for her first job, she picked See's Candies. Barbie® had always found that a present of See's made anyone happy on a birthday, the holidays, or for a hostess gift when she was invited to dinner. Barbie also knew that helping customers select their favorites would be fun, and it was!

Of course, See's knew that Barbie, with her friendly personality, beautiful smile. and sunny disposition would make a perfect addition to the See's family. You can tell from Barbie doll's uniform, which is practically identical today to those worn back in the 20s and 30s. She is ready to help all of her customers find just the right piece of candy, be it an ever-so-delicate Bon Bon, a nice big chunk of Rocky Road or one of her own favorites, Milk Bordeaux™, which she discovered in a Valentine's Velvet Heart box given to her not so long ago by Ken*.
