Ann never thought about being a fashion designer, but she always liked to draw. Her grandmother painted, and her mother always found time to paint and sew fashionable outfits. After receiving a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Virginia. Ann worked as a freelance illustrator and layout artist for a newspaper. As part of her job, she started doing fashion illustrations and loved it. She decided to become a fashion designer, and went to Parsons School of Design in New York, where she received a degree in fashion design. After working for some of the top names on Seventh Avenue, she moved to Los Angeles and Mattel. An accomplished illustrator, Ann works by first sketching all of her design ideas. Although she loves the variety of looks she can create for Barbie, Ann's favorite designs are "real" outfits that reflect the most interesting and contemporary fashion trends.
