Description

Everybody Loves I Love Lucy! A hit since it debuted in 1951, each new generation falls in love with the inimitable redhead and her wacky schemes. The classic episode #72, 'Lucy Tells the Truth' originally wired during Season 3 on November 9, 1953.

One night Lucy gets caught in a few too many lies, and Ricky challenges her on her ability to fib her way through life. He bets her $100 that she can't tell the absolute truth for 24 hours. Ethel and Fred chime in, and are sure Lacy will lose, they each take a piece of the bet for themselves. The last day, Lucy is scrupulously honest at a bridge game and at home, telling Fred and Ethel exactly what she thinks of them.

Lucy then reveals that Ricky is the most handsome and talented man on earth, but that he is also a coward, afraid to let her spread her talented show biz wings and develop her own career. So, Ricky concocts a plot to bring Lucy to an audition where she will have to lie about her experience, thereby losing the bet. Lucy doesn't lie in her interview, and is rejected for lack of experience. But when Professor Falconi needs an assistant, Lucy sees her last chance to get into the show. She tells a lie-that she can speak Italian-and volunteers to be part of his act. Unfortunately, this attempt at stardom lands her the job of assistant to Falconi-the knife thrower! It's a Barbie World. We Just Play in It!
