Description

In 1964 Pontiac's GTO started the muscle car revolution. The concept of a big V-8 engine in a light intermediate-sized car was not new, racers and hot rodders had done it for years, but the GTO made high performance affordable from the showroom floor. It became the car that defined a decade. By 1969, however, the GTO faced stiff competition both on the streets and in consumer's minds. Every American car maker had its GTO equivalent. Some were faster and many were less expesive. The "youth market" Pontiac so successfully captured with the first GTOS was slipping away from them. Their answer was The Judge, and it was to become the ultimate GTO.

The standard engine was the 366 horsepower Ram Air III 400 cubic inch V-8 which took in cold air through functional hood scoops and could launch the Judge through the quarter mile in about 13.5 seconds at over 105 mph. Outside, the Judge was pure '60's muscle sporting bright paint colors with bold Judge side stripes, emblems, and finished off with the rear deck mounted spoiler.

Fast, well-balanced, yet roomy and comfortable, the Judge remains the definitive GTO.
